A video on YouTube in which I talk about my graduation project
In my graduation project Tragique Domestique, I offer a glimpse into the hidden life of the housewife: a world full of mildewed dishcloths, moldy sandwiches, and the challenging bliss of motherhood.
I see this theme as a framework upon which various visual languages and storytelling forms can be layered. Sculptures, tapestries, illustrated interviews, and a picture book are all part of my exploration. I use household objects as canvases to tell my story, exploring the illustrative possibilities of traditional domestic textile art, for example.
By bringing together these multimedia manifestations, I create an installation that portrays the housewife's environment.
This research provides the viewer with recognition for housewives, a group often hidden and overlooked. After all, everyone deals with isolation, impermanence, the chaos of daily life, and bawling while chopping onions.
Even after earning my degree, I remain endlessly fascinated by housewives. Thus my works on motherhood and domesticity will continue to expand.
