The Hour of the Star - Clarice Lispector 💫
The Brazilian writer Clarice Lispector is the queen of the novella. In The Hour of the Star we follow the writer Rodrigo S.M. who imagines a girl: Macabea. Macabea is a poor, uneducated girl who longs for fame, direction and recognition, but she has to make do with her fragile fantasies and cans of soda. Ultimately, the writer might grant her a form of star status.
Through tender references to the everyday, and a comic satirical look at emerging pop culture, Lispector knows how to immerse you in the wonderful existence of Macabea and her writer.
